The Eastern Creek Quarter shopping center creates a special stage for local restaurants – the building itself impresses with a special façade.
Just 40 minutes from downtown Sydney, a new shopping center opened its doors in June: The Eastern Creek Quarter, developed by Frasers Property Australia, offers more than 10,000 square meters of shopping space with stores ranging from barber shops, pharmacies and nail salons to clothing stores.
Visitors also have a large selection of numerous changing dining options to choose from, because the Eastern Creek Quarter seeks to establish itself as a shopping and dining hotspot in western Sydney. What makes it special: In the catering area, the stores are designed as pop-up stores to provide various local restaurants a stage for their products.
The Australian architects’ firm i2c was responsible for planning the shopping center and chose a custom design for the façade: The name of the tailor-made pattern is “Dinowave” and is embedded in the reinforced, class 40MPa concrete using RECKLI molds. RECKLI supplied two sets of elastic structural molds, each 54 square meters in total. The custom pattern is up to 75 millimeters deep and now characterizes almost 1700 square meters of the façade. The concrete was stained using the NAWKAW staining system in the precast plant XL Precast Concrete and then applied to the façade.
