The project
On a 6.4 hectare site in Thailand, previously privately owned, Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach was to be a hotel complex with a modern design, while at the same time offering guests the opportunity to connect with the local culture and nature.
Implementation
In order to preserve the site’s many trees, some of which were planted by members of the royal family, the award-winning architectural firm ARCHITECTS envisaged 49 groups of one- to three-storey buildings spread across the property. Inspired by the site’s history, the architects used natural materials such as wood, stone and handcrafted artwork to emphasize the local character.
The textured formliner
Wood and stone were harmoniously complemented by the use of concrete facade elements. Our textured formliner 2/163 Fraser from the RECKLI SELECT series was used here. The formliner has a horizontal wooden texture with irregularly abutting boards, lending the facade additional liveliness - and with its natural look it fits perfectly with the architects’ design.
